Sleuth Duet for Two Bass Instruments in D-Dorian Mode

I wrote “Sleuth” in 2007 for my son, Joshua, as duet for the Contrabass class of Suzuki Strings Workshop in Ottawa, Kansas.  It is is written in “Dorian” Church Mode to give it a sinister feel.  In fact, part of the purpose of this piece is to give students the feel of how one ancient church mode differs from another.  I wrote this piece on the level of a good high-school player.  The top part is for either a Cello or Bass (high position, going up to the high F).  Part II is written for Contrabass.  Using other bass instruments is also possible.  This was one of the first songs I wrote, and is the source of the name of this website.
