About the Composer

Hello! I’m Dr. William Stephenson, MD. Welcome to my music site! Let me tell you a bit about me.  My composition teachers are Adam Schoenberg, D.M.A., (one of the most performed living orchestral composers in the USA), James Eakin, D.M.A., (winner of the 2022 ‘American Prize’ in Compostion) and Joseph Sowa, Ph.D., (champion of the Wizarding School for Composers). I love to sing and whistle, and I cherish my years sining in numerous choirs. I read Music Theory Textbooks for fun. My wife, Amy, and I have 4 adult children and we can make quite an ensemble as long as the music only demands Flute, Harp, Violin, Contrabass and keyboard instruments.  I am a native of San Jose, California, lived in Overland Park, Kansas, for several decades and currently reside in Orem, Utah.  I have also spent several years living in Argentina, Mexico and Spain.  Before my Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Kansas, I received a BS in Nutrition at BYU. Currently, I am a practicing Hematologist and Oncologist. The picture above was taken during the KC Bass Workshop during the Premier of my composition Pensive No. 1.

Thank you for your interest in my music,

— “Steve”
