In Quiet Peace Forever (2025) for SATB Choir & Piano

In Quiet Peace Forever is adapted from two works by Edvard Grieg (1843-1907), Norwegian composer and pianist: In My Native Country, from ‘Lyric Pieces’, Book 3, Op. 43, No. 3, and Sarabande, fromFrom Holberg’s Time’, Op. 40, No. 2.

Lyrics are original, derived from scriptures about Peace. Isaiah 32:17-18 refers to Peace as our work of righteousness, the effect of which is quiet assurance and peaceful resting places. Isaiah 56:24-25 shares the beautiful promise that those living in Peace will have their prayers heard while they are yet speaking and can live without fear in all his Holy Mountain. During the Last Supper, Christ promised the Holy Ghost as a Comforter, saying, “My peace I give unto you.” It is my prayer that as we grow in peace, we will reach that quiet resting place forever.

Lyrics:

Oh, when I seek the Lord and I listen to his word, and walk within his sunlit path of meekness, then peace fills my mind as a witness from my God. I’ll rest within that quiet peace forever.

Growing peace with peace, through each kindness that I speak as I yearn for the Prince of Peace!

The hungry I will feed as a service to my God. I’ll nurture those in need of tender blessing and find within my heart blessed peace that fills the soul --a hope of Life Eternal.

Peace I send. Peace is a gift I send. Peace is a gift sent as the Holy Ghost. A world needing peace will need the Holy Ghost!

Peace I send! My Peace I send to you. Peace I send you as the Holy Ghost! So be not afraid, no be not afraid, I send the Holy Ghost!

Growing peace with peace through each kindness that I speak as I yearn for the Prince of Peace!

He will hear before I speak and will answer as I call, and none shall hurt in all his Holy Mountain, and peace will fill my mind as a witness from my God. I’ll rest within that quiet peace forever, and rest in quiet peace forever.

In quiet peace forever.
